I started here at OSHC in March 2018 and am loving the environment already!
I finished school in 2015 and took a year off to intern at my church in Para Vista. This was to serve alongside our Youth Pastor and to help run our youth program on Friday nights. I absolutely loved the experience of investing in the lives of the youth and just generally hanging out with them. I also undertook some part time study at a bible college during that time.
After that endeavor, in 2017, I had the amazing opportunity to work at the El Shaddai Camping Centre near Murray Bridge. This was honestly a blast of a year, instructing outdoor activities like canoeing, rock climbing, archery and even a Giant Swing for kids ranging from year 2&3's to year 12's. Instructing over 1000 kids last year taught me really how different and unique kids actually are, and how much of an awesome opportunity it is to be a part of these kids lives, even if it's only 3 days.
At the beginning 2018, my church offered me part time work as a youth worker. So far it's been awesome, but having OSHC to do alongside constantly reminds me of what I learnt at El Shaddai: Kids will never cease to suprise you.
Fun Fact: My back has more than $20000 worth of metal in it!
